Da Lata
"Da Lata" is Brazilian Portuguese for anything really good. Literally, it means "from the tin"; urban legend recounts an incident when tins of the finest marijuana were washed up on the Brazilian coastline -- you can figure out the rest. Da Lata is Patrick Forge, world-renowned super-D.J., together with multi-instrumentalist Chris Franck of the brilliant bossa-trip-hop band Smoke City. The duo is augmented by Brazilian vocalist Liliana Chachian and Portuguese percussionist Oli Albergaria Savill. Their 2000 debut "From The Tin," is a mesmerizing combination of acoustic instrumentation and electronic accents, capturing the sweet melancholy of Brazilian melody within the unforgiving funk of up-to-the-minute dance-floor technology.

Jazzanova
Jazzanova is a Berlin based producer collective consisting of the Jazzanova DJ-team (Jurgen von Knoblauch, Alexander Barck, and Claas Brieler) and the producers Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer, and Kosma (Rowsko Kretschmann). Jazzanova discovered their sonic brotherhood while spinning at Berlin's Delicious Doughnuts Club back in 1995. To Jazzanova, music is the search for a common language of international club music, to take in influences from many different cultures and musical styles, to fuse these styles together and get the audience involved in the whole musical spectrum of that fusion. Their love for deep jazz and modern beats has led their music to become a somewhat stunning amalgamation of retro and new sounds that echoes various musical styles from Hip Hop and Afrofunk to Drum & Bass, Boogie, Brazil, Latin, and Soul. Always reacting directly to new and fresh influences, Jazzanova have developed a percussion-oriented, sophisticated, clean and warm broken-beat-style that is constantly changing in form...it's just simply Jazzanova.

Friends From Rio
Friends From Rio came into being via Far Out Recordings; the record label founded by self-styled DJ and producer Joe Davis. As interest in Brazilian music has spiraled, the label has become a home to this new sound and has been offering musicians the chance to breathe new life into their musical styles. Recently recorded in Rio, Friends From Rio brings together some of Brazil's finest jazz artists and has already received remix attention from the likes of Global Communications, DJ Takemura, and Da Lata, amongst others.

Arsenal
Arsenal was founded in Brussels in 1999 by Hendrik Willemyns and John Roan who forced their way into various DJ sets with the release of their first EP "Release" - a moody, deep house track. One year later they worked with Mario Vitalino Dos Santos on various tracks, including "A Volta." Loved by the critics and played by all the major DJs this track has become a perennial dance floor favorite.

Mr. Gone
Mr. Gone is the studio moniker of Simon T. Bramley who hails from Leicester, England. He has been playing jazz and funk for the last 16 years and is a founding member of the jazz-funk band Afro Elements. Simon's taste in music varies wildly but is ultimately centered on jazz related music of all kinds and Brazilian music, which is evident on tracks like the club classic "Mosquito Coast '94-'96" featured here.
