A Global Journey Into Scandanavian Vibes
Nordic Exposure tracks the global migration of Soul and Jazz, taking you into the Nu Spirit of Scandinavian Music. These new migratory patterns transcend geography and redraw the muscial map, where winter almost lasts forever.
The experience of this sound is pure travel, motion through space and time, ambient currents flowing next to electronic pulsation, punctuated with melodic piano phrases and acoustic interludes. This is total synthesis: Classical Music, Soul and Jazz colliding to bring you into this new generation of sound.
Welcome to the evolution, where the modern lifts up the classic, renewing it. From Sweden, Denmark and Norway, Nordic Exposure presents the latest chapter in the enduring Chronicle of Scandinavian Music.
Bobby Hughes
Bobby Hughes Combination is one of many aliases used by the immensely talented producer Espen Horne, hailing from Norway. Weather its Scandanavian design of the sixties, or constructing jazzfunk tunes that sound of another era, Horne knows what he's talking about. His debut LP as Bobby Hughes Experience, "Fusa Riot" was release to critical acclaim on Ultimate Dillemma records in 1999. Recently, Mr. Horne has enlisted the talents of Norway's most famous jazz singer, Karin Krog for a track entitled "Karins Kerma", a re-groove of the popular "Kerma Elastica" tune.
KOOP
Sweden's Mangus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson make up Koop, which means "co-operation". After growing tired of the declining nature of contemporary jazz, the two set off to create a more hard-edge sound that still incorporated their primary influences of latin and jazz. Along the impact of the early hip hop sounds, and rise of Detroit Techno, a new sound was born in Stockholm.
Swell Session
Andreas Saag walked into the Swell Session offices to present some music, and upon hearing it, label head Stefan Bede said "I like it, but it's a little too electronic for my taste. You don't have anything else more towards the groovy tip?" So, Andreas went back to the studio with a mission at hand, and Swell Session was born. The sound is jazzy, latin, off-beat house, created with some of his friends, Henrik Cederblom, Yukimi Nagana, Christoffer Berg, and more.
