Launch the Zero 7 e-card jukebox
British dreamy pop-soul masters Zero 7 will be releasing an enhanced remix CD of select cuts from their classic, critically acclaimed debut album, Simple Things. Entitled simply Simple Things Remixes, the record will hit the streets on January 21, 2003 on Quango/Palm. The band's principles Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker, fronting their 11-piece band, recently completed a West Coast tour, whose highlights included a memorable sold-out night at San Francisco's Fillmore as well as a headlining performance at the prestigious KCRW Sounds Eclectic show at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
Besides readying Simple Things Remixes, Binns and Hardaker are currently recording the new Zero 7 record (to be released in the Spring of 2003 on Quango/Palm), and are working on multifarious remix and production projects (they recently completed work on a remix for the new N.E.R.D. single "Provider"). Simple Things has been a success in every sense of the word -- great sales, great radio and video play, great live shows, great word of mouth, great critical acclaim and a Mercury Prize nomination has made the record one of the most sought after since its release in November 2001, and has created much anticipation for the follow up. Joining them in the studio for the new one will be much of the same personnel that appeared on Simple Things, including vocalists Mozez, Sophie Barker and Sia Furler.
Zero 7's new single "In the Waiting Line" is currently at AAA radio, and like the innovative video for the single "Destiny," which received significant airplay from MTV2, VH1 and Much Music, the new clip uses cutting edge technology to create a visually striking vanguard video. Produced by companies Ghost Robot and Fountainhead Entertainment, "In the Waiting Line" is being made using the real-time 3D technology known best for the popular video game Quake III Arenatm Combining elements of cinematic storytelling with the language of 3D animation, director Tommy Pallotta, who also directed "Destiny," worked with unconventional tools to create a unique style of animation for Zero 7's mesmerizing sound. Pallotta describes the video as "the story of a lonely robot traveling through outer space that comes alive."
