In the debut solo album Love Rhino, singer-songwriter Sunny Levine delivers a sparsely textured chronicle of love gone wrong. Sunny presents his side of the story as “a glimpse into a bizarre breakup set to classic California sounds”. Intertwining quirky, insightful lyrics and laidback beats, Sunny maps a relationship’s bumpy path.
Sunny comes from a strong musical heritage, which becomes increasingly clear as the album progresses. His grandfather is Quincy Jones, his father is producer Stewart Levine (Simply Red, Joe Cocker, BB King, Dr. John, Minnie Ripperton, and Jamie Cullum) and his uncle is producer QD3 (Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube). Sunny followed in the family footsteps producing artists such as The Happy Mondays, Mickey Avalon, Pete Yorn, and Hugh Masekela, with his own solo album on the backburner. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re thrilled it’s finally here.
